A summer full of sound, colour, and festive mood
Five reasons why Graubünden comes alive in July
Graubünden is vast, vibrant, and, in summer, almost unstoppable. We’ve put together a list of five events for you that are sure to lift your spirits between late June and early August, and all are easily accessible from Hotel La Val.
#1 Open Air Lumnezia
If you’re looking for a festival set against stunning scenery, the Open Air Lumnezia from 23 to 25 July 2026 is the perfect choice. In the Surselva, surrounded by mountain meadows and the evening sky, international acts take turns sharing the stage with Swiss artists. What makes it special is that the backdrop is part of the experience.
#2 EMTB Grand Tour in Scuol
In July, the Lower Engadine welcomes all those who prefer to discover Graubünden on two wheels. The EMTB Grand Tour e-bike event in Scuol is all about e-mountain bikes, tours through stunning landscapes, and connecting with like-minded people. An event that makes you want to just set off.
#3 St. Moritz summer market
Between 20 June and 19 September 2026, St. Moritz regularly becomes a meeting place for anyone who enjoys strolling, sampling, and browsing. The St. Moritz summer market offers regional specialities, drinks and handmade products, right in the heart of the town and with that typical Engadin blend of relaxed and slightly sophisticated atmosphere. A lovely stop-off for anyone who wants to take a taste of the Swiss summer home with them.
#4 JazzChur summer programme
Those who prefer a quieter pace but still want to experience something special will find the perfect evening in the JazzChur summer programme. Small stages, intimate venues, music that pushes boundaries – culminating in a particularly wonderful moment on 30 July at the Polenta Jazz Club in Chur. Jazz in the Alps feels surprisingly right.
#5 National Day on 1 August
The crowning glory of the summer is 1 August: bonfires on the peaks, music in the villages, evenings filled with laughter, and a festive atmosphere. Graubünden celebrates National Day in its own way: warmly, unpretentiously, and with cheerful people.
As you can see, Graubünden in summer is a great idea. With the right accommodation, it becomes an absolutely brilliant one. Hotel La Val looks forward to welcoming you for a summer in the Swiss mountains.
